Film & TV Discussions What should I watch on Netflix?

Off the top of my head, here are a few I saw on Netflix that I liked a lot...I don't know if they are still streaming, but these come to mind for me:

-Metro Manila (Filipino crime drama)
-In Bruges (organized crime black comedy)
-It Felt Like Love (very subtle teenage drama)

I got addicted to "The Killing" recently - not a movie but a great series. First two seasons are great... not as good towards the end but still worth finishing.

Hmm, I don't have any documentary suggestions (other than the thousands of Holocaust ones that I've come across), but I do have suggestions that I've come across by accident. I'll try not to make the list too long, but agh, I guess I get excited when people ask for recommendations.

  • Lady Vengeance: This, if you haven't noticed, is probably one of my favourite films of all time. If you love Oldboy or anything by Chan-wook Park, then you'll love this kick ass movie.
  • Upstream Color: written, directed, acted, scored, produced, and edited all by one guy. It's a really beautiful film.
  • Another Earth
  • Free Fall: A German film about two cops falling in love
  • Slow West: A film I watched after reading the (brilliant) screenplay and was blown away by the performances.
  • Weekend
  • Keep the Lights On
  • City of God: A classic, imo.
  • The Man from Nowhere: this is a good, fun, slightly-violent Korean movie.
  • Perfect Sense
And I'm going to stop myself before I get waaay too carried away, but thereya go.

Ah, jeez. Not in a long time. I like some of his films as a director, but Hana-bi and Kikujiro are probably his best works.

**Yikes, I'm replying to this late. But ah well.

That's true, Sonatine is good. And I'm jealous you got to see Kikujiro at Cannes..

And will do! :)

I binged all of Jessica Jones in one day. It was fantastic and I'm not a big Marvel fan. I've mostly been using Netflix for series these days and haven't been watching as many features. I'm will probably give Hell on Wheels another go this weekend.

not sure if its your thing, but there is "the 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared" on netflix which was quite good. very funny. its a foreign film. :)

Recently, I've enjoyed Peaky Blinders, 3%, The Fall, Broadchurch, and Sense8. If you can find The Night Manager that is a fun watch as well

Managed to catch a few episodes of Netflix’s new German-language series Dark. It’s in a similar vein as Stranger Things (or rather, Twin Peaks, according to the creators). Looking forward to binge watching the rest. Perhaps worth checking out if you like that sort of thing?
