Icebreakers Where have you lived?

Where have you lived? Where do you recommend living? (At least for a while) Where do you want to live?

I've lived in:
  • Maryland (childhood)
  • Kenya (3 month high school exchange program)
  • Boston (university)
  • Grenoble, France (University one year exchange program)
  • Los Angeles (currently)
I highly recommend living abroad at least for a while. As you can tell I took FULL ADVANTAGE of any exchange program that was offered to me. 🤣🤣 Totally worth it and I highly recommend.

I'd love to live in Europe again for awhile. Harder to do with three kids to support.

How about everyone else?

I've lived in

Durham, North Carolina (born and spent the first three years of my life there, I go back and visit often)
Al Ain, UAE (my family moved there for a few years when I was a kid)
Cleveland, OH (spent most of my childhood there after moving back to the US
Brooklyn
Los Angeles

I think North Carolina is really beautiful and it's a growing state so I'd love to go back there permanently but I will be in LA pursuing the dream for the foreseeable future.

Belarus (childhood)
Poland (language school)
USA (exchange program)
Austria (exchange program)
Sweden (exchange program)
Scotland (master)
Spain (master)
Korea (exchange program)
Russia (exchange program)
Belarus (currently)

I live in California.

Ah yes, the land of palm trees, crackheads, In-N-Out, celebrities, smoking weed, surfer dudes/girls, and terrible drivers!

All jokes aside, I like it here. The area I live in could be considered “gHeTTo”… ratatata… but apart from that, it’s really not that bad, in my opinion. But, oh my, the drivers and roads here are awful. It’s like no one here knows how to properly drive.
