Columbia Film School MFA Applicants 2026 (14 Viewers)

Just had my interview for Directing/Screenwriting with Christine and Diana! It was around 25 mins. I feel pretty good about how I did. They were very supportive and allowed me the time to express my ideas.
Glad your interview went well! Be sure to edit and update your application with the info in the interview section towards the bottom. :)

Hoping to hear good results! 🤞🤞

Thats awesome! What kind of questions did they ask?
They asked what I'm working on creatively right now and what I'm inspired by + where I get inspiration. Then they asked a more general 'Why Columbia?" question.

I noted in my app that I was an actor, so we talked about that for a little. They brought up that since I have more writing experience than directing whether I considered myself primarily a writer or a writer director. Then they asked what I felt like I needed to gain experience with.

At the end of the interview they opened up the space for questions and I was able to ask one.

I hope you get in! Good luck and thank you for letting me know what they asked you.

According to the Q&As, they finish sending out interview emails by mid Feb. But there can always be someone who declines admission, so I wouldn't say it's safe to say you're 100% denied.

I dont remember who interviewed me, I was too worried about my answers. They asked me questions directly specific to my submitted materials like my creative portfolio.
Basically trying to get into the mind of the character and trying to make them walk with the character but I just explained instead of doing what they asked.
