2016 Interviews- Acceptances- Rejections

Any more Tisch invites? I feel like I remember reading in last year's thread that international students are contacted first.

On another note: is there anyone else here you applied to the University of Miami? I was told by their admissions people that I would get a decision the 2nd week of February, but have not heard anything yet. Just curious if anyone else has any other information. :)

Congrats @peace.! I've been refreshing my email like mad. It's already 7pm in NYC and I suppose Susan will send out interview invites tomorrow. :(

Hey guys just wanted to let you know I recieved an email from nyu for an interview I live in NYC and the date they gave me is 2 weeks from today. Good luck guys!

hey guys, im new here, i applied MFA-Directing for AFI, UCLA, CHAPMAN, CALARTS, USC, NYU, only heard from CALARTS yesterday for an interview, they suggested in the email for a face to face interview rather than skype. any suggestions? anyone heard from other schools yet?

best of luck guys!

Hey @suki17 and welcome to the bunch! Please add your info to our google spreadsheet so we can all see how the process is going forward with all schools!

@Anita B. congrats to you too! That is awesome!

I thouht I'd lose sleep but slept like a baby after all. I'm guessing there is still hope since from the vast amount of applicants on the spread sheet, only two have been invited so far. :) though last year looks quite red with Tisch as well... I guess we wait and see.

@Chris Wright my bet is that this site has saved lives... :) and based on activity and add the 100+ lurkers in the mix, I would say it is in demand :)

If I haven't heard from Columbia yet is it likely I am not gonna get an interview?

Hi guys!

I just got this email from Chapman and I'm sort of confused by it. Has anyone else heard from them yet? (email shortened for relevance)

"Having studied your application in detail, we are all impressed with the materials in the file. If our decision were based on the file alone, we would admit you. But you will be the directing student, not the file, so we want to get to know you. ...So, please plan a trip to Orange, as soon as possible....Given that we will start sending out acceptance letters in March, it would be wise to visit as soon as possible, and no later than mid-March....In any case, one of us will be getting in touch with you shortly to encourage you to visit campus and to introduce you to the program."

What does this mean?? It doesn't mention an interview at all and it sort of sounds like my acceptance is contingent on my ability to visit. But if I'm not in a position to visit them right now (financially), is that the end of it? Should I ask them or wait to see if they send another email about interviews? I'm hoping someone else can share some insight on this!

Thank you!

@filmophile20 That's a funny little email, but yep, sounds like an interview to me. Congrats! They state they will contact you again so rest assured you will get more details when they do. The way it looks to me is that this is a form letter and soon you will be personally contacted to make arrangements. They probably send this one out so that, if you want to, you can make plans asap (they give you a timeframe to book travel and lodging); if you don't want to, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Congrats, guys! Chapman seems like an awesome program! If I haden't been so busy and the application so heavy, I would have applied too! Maybe next year if I luck out on all my "lottery tickets" this time around.

@russki_D503 Underneath is a quote from a quote :) VictimX contacted Columbia and underneath is the admissions response. I would say it's not over until it's over.

"More interview invitations may be sent out, though we cannot say for sure. If you are invited to interview, you will hear from us by early March. "

Thanks @Paul J.! you're an inspiration (☞゚∀゚)☞

Don't know about that but happy to help :) What comes to stressing about waiting - I really should practice what I preach. The waiting game would be hard worhout this community!

I'm so excited that Chapman is starting to get in touch with people! They're my top choice! Haven't heard anything from them yet, but judging by past years, it looks like they don't do interviews for producing students. Too bad, because it's been very cold where I live, and I would love some California sunshine! :P

I just have to figure out how to get a plane ticket and take off work to go visit. Maybe I need to find a sugar daddy.

Yeah, it's kind of weird that they're just like "come visit us now!" Perhaps you could call them and ask for a Skype interview?

In the email they said they'd be in touch soon to iron out the details, so I'll ask them about it then. Obviously that would be nice since I am in a very tight financial situation (i.e., I'm broke as hell).
