2016 Interviews- Acceptances- Rejections

ok. So I decided to do a little math. When Columbia first e-mailed me with the probable interview dates, there were 6 available dates, with 6 possible slots for each day. So that's 36 applicants. Then there were a few others who got different dates for interview as well.
How many people do you think were invited for the interview? They take in 48 students, so is the number of interviewees closer to 72 or 96?

Hey guys, haven't heard from NYU, USC and UCLA.
NYU was where I wanted to study the most, how worried should I be? It seems in the spreadsheet that the interview invitations were all sent out a few day ago. =(

Also, will they at least send me rejection letter or just keep silent? This is a question about all three universities.

Sorry, I meant all three schools!

@Lifeisnoholiday Yes, you should receive either a rejection letter or email. Unfortunately, rejections tend to be the last thing that gets sent out, so they might not send them until Mid-late March or early April.
I haven't heard from NYU, USC, or UCLA either. I'm still holding out hope until I hear something official. :)

I have done my interview for UCLA last Sunday. And I got the email last Monday. But don't worry, they told me that's the first week for interview. This year, there will be totally 70 people take the interview.

I applied MFA directing

Hey @Manatee- good wishes for your interview result! Did you attend the interview in person or was it through skype?

My interview at UCLA is scheduled for this Sunday for MFA directing program. Do share your experience! How many interviewers in the panel? What kind of interview was it - formal or casual ? What kind of questions did they ask?

Just getting more anxious by the day!:(

Thanks! What worries me is that those schools are, as I understand, best of the best, which means they select people even for the interviews accordingly. I see in the spreadsheet that Columbia has probably finished inviting people they wanted, but the low numbers of people invited to NYU, USC, or UCLA might be it, considering our spreadsheet is not the ultimate database (that's what I was getting at in the beginning of my post).

Also, my footage is a 1:30 silent film (I mean, there are sounds, but characters don't say anything, only act) shot on iPhone 6S in Moscow subway. While writing and producing, I thought I had the advantages of laconism and telling my story exclusively with, uhm, cinematic tools of expression (?), but now I'm afraid it might look simply lacklustre, compared to other applicants' more serious work.

Anyway, my vimeo stats, as basic as they are with a free account, show a few views, with a recent one being in California (I can't look if it was watched in New York). Don't know what to make of it, though =).

Everyone, sorry for a huge post, just had to let it out after long time watching (like everybody else).

How do you see if your video was watched at the state level? I didn't know that feature had been released yet?

Well, my basic vimeo account only gives me most basic stats, one of which is "most watched by region during last month", which is California (with 1 view).

Any news from AFI?
I got an email from AFI today about financial aid. It said that their financial aid department had been notified that I was interested in attending and told me about all of my options for paying for school. I'm assuming it was just a stock email sent out but honestly I was just glad to know that they knew I existed.

I haven't received anything yet! Oh well let's hope for the best.

I really think it's just a general email they send out. They probably read my scholarship application, saw I work 3 minimum wage jobs and thought I needed a reality check.

Hopefully we will both get in! It's just that so far I haven't seen any posts regarding AFI so I was hoping someone might tell us something!

The AFI wheels are officially in motion. Lucky enough to receive an interview invitation via phone this afternoon, scheduled for March 1st. (Screenwriting MFA applicant).

For fellow Screenwriting applicants who'll receive their invitations shortly, I'd recommend the link below. An applicant from last year lists 12 questions AFI asked her. Some great information -- https://www.reddit.com/r/Screenwrit...cla_screenwriter_mfa_students_or_alumni_here/

Good luck everyone!
