2016 Interviews- Acceptances- Rejections

Everyone seems to be feeling a little morose because after a brief spurt of activity invites have slowed to a trickle.

Ugh, I feel like this week has been the WORST waiting wise. It also seems that many of the schools this year have switched up their notification process, which is not helping.

Time has indeed slowed down to a halt. And it is quite annoying that most of L.A. day is night for me so being awake, smashing on that refresh button does nothing for me. :(

BUT on a plus, people have been active on the spread sheet so good job everyone! All you lurkers/nonforumers pitch in on the spread sheet as well!

Well I heard back from Northwestern. "We cannot accommodate visits from applicants during our admissions season." Understandable for such a small program in my opinion, but still unfortunate. I was really excited! And I know you were t too @Solomon_E . They offered to schedule a phone call for any questions, which I will probably take them up on.

@IndecisiveElle I wonder if you couldn't find a current student from some forum to take you around the premises? OR you could just sneak in and walk around (though you might not get to all areas without a student ID).

@Paul J. The tours and meet & greets seem to be run by their program assistant Shannon - a grad from '14 - and she also answers all their emails. From the phrasing, I think not having the staff to run a visit during this time of the year is part of the reason for sure. Other have possibly being seen as too great of an advantage when they only do Skype interviews - which I'm wondering if that's also related to the program being small. I'm considering just heading there to wander around campus but I'm less excited to do it in the cold! But if there is a current student on the forum who could take me around that would be awesome! Maybe I'll post in the last couple years of threads to see if anyone bites. Thanks for the idea. ;)

It certainly looks like anyone on here have not heard from AFI, which is promising! Regarding the LFS, I am in the screenwriting MA program, which is just a year (10 months).. So I'm not on the directing/filmmaking course

I figured you were drowning in work. I believe the situation was resolved :) good to see you are alive and kicking, though! You came back at the time people are most neurotic :)

What! Ok, not going to be able to sleep tonight :( in bed already... Here is for hoping! What did the message say?

I think that's a good reminder for everyone! @peace. - It is still really early. I think we all got hyped up because Columbia invites came out a week early, but it is only Feb 10th! Based on history we can settle down a bit ---- and then resume freaking out in about 3 weeks. :p

@Paul J. the email says the following: [im just copy-pasting]

"Greetings. I'm writing about your application to the Graduate Film
Program at NYU. The faculty
would like to meet with you for an interview regarding your admission
to our program.
You've been selected as part of a small group of semi-finalists still
under consideration for MFA studies.

Please contact me as soon as possible by phone at 212-998-1753 in
order to schedule an interview
for late February or early in March. If you get my voicemail, please
try back in a few minutes.

If you are unable to meet with us in New York, we can arrange an
interview over the phone or
via skype. However, we would prefer to meet with you in person.

I can be reached at the number above weekdays from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm EST.
Our offices will be closed on Monday, February 15th.

Thank you.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards,

Susan Carnival"

Congrats @peace.! I had a feeling NYU would start sending out invites today! :)
Nothing on my end yet, but here's hoping!

That's good to know about them not taking visits (albeit disappointing). It saves me a trip, I guess. :) Also, visiting a Los Angeles school would be cheaper for me because I'm on the West Coast already, so I have a good reason to consider doing that instead. I will also consider going to New York to visit one or more schools if it feels right and a reason comes up. Thanks for posting the update!
