2016 Interviews- Acceptances- Rejections (2 Viewers)

AFI SCREENWRITER APPLICANTS-

I got sent the following response by an adviser after I asked when rejection letters were being sent.

Hope this gives hope to someone.

"Reviews and interviews are still being completed for screenwriting applications, and interviews can happen up until the very last minute. Notification date for all screenwriting applicants is April 4. But keep in mind, the Producing application is due April 1."

Stay positiive!

Best,
Jill

Hey guys,

Just now catching up with this forum, but wanted to give a heads up from Argentina, maybe my personal info can help some of you. I applied to AFI, NYU and USC. So far:

AFI (directing) - interview March 16th, notified Feb 18th

USC (Film & TV Production) - apparently admitted without interview, pending financial verification and passport info for formal letter of admission. Received a bunch of emails today.

NYU - no news, not quite ready to give up just yet

Congrats to those already admitted or close to the finish line, and best of luck to the rest of you!

Maybe something better will come along and you will kick all of the ass!! (I haven't heard from any schools either.)
If we want a career or to further our careers in film, then there is always a way, without or without grad school. It's actually nice to remember that right now. I'm going to go kick that ass now, I hope you do too!

I'm feeling similar to you @IndecisiveElle. Maybe it's because the first thing I heard back was a rejection, I'm just not very hopeful about the rest. On a positive note, now that I've put all this to the back of my mind, I'm getting really excited about writing again! When it comes down to it, I'm a good old-fashioned narcissist, and even if every school on earth rejected me, I'd still be convinced that I'm a genius. LOL. ;)

Hi everyone, just an update! I had a one on one Skype interview with Chapman yesterday. It was very conversational, very pleasant. We talked the commute from LA to Orange (I'm an international, I don't know these things!) and then it basically went:

- so, you want to go to film school...
- what's your leadership style?
- any questions about the program?

We spoke a bit about my portfolio submission and my thesis idea after, and we both agreed I have a long way to go.

I didn't dare ask when I'd hear back but I've always been one for surprises so..

Overall, I quite enjoyed the conversation! All the best guys!

@Paul J. YAY! Congrats!! And congrats to everyone else who got accepted as well!

I just got a call from Chapman asking for an interview for the producing program!! So excited! :)

Got notified by USC to check you.usc for a decision - I am in! Without an interview - so for all waiting, don't lose hope. I honestly had after not getting an interview invite!

This is so cool, congrats!
Could you remind, have you heard from them before?
P.S. I can't even find you.usc :(

YAYYYYY! @Paul J. that is great news! Congratulations! :D

@Lifeisnoholiday no contact before the acceptance letter. No interview or anything. Just the occasional automated financial application spam but they stopped a while ago too.

Which program? Did you receive any fellowships? And what are the chances of you attending USC?

@tutenkhamen film & tv production. The accptance was very general and had no mention of any scholarships. I am assuming that more info is coming via snail mail since much was unclear. Deadlines for locking down a decision etc was info I thought would be there but wasn't. Still have an interview with Columbia next week - I'd like to play that card before making any decisions but so far the only certain in is USC.

Ok, I have exactly the same situation. We'll see, we'll see..

It's film and tv production, I've looked it up in the spreadsheet
