Chapman Fall 2023 All MFA Programs (5 Viewers)

Just finished my interview with Kevin Jones, didn’t realize he was the chair of all the graduate programs until the end lol I probably would have been a lot more nervous had I known in the beginning. It was very chill and relaxed though. More like a conversation.

Why Chapman? What’s different about us than the other programs?

Why directing?

Name a time where you had to collaborate creatively with other.

Types of movies that excite you and you want to create? What have you watched lately?

Any questions before we wrap up?

It goes by quickly! I did ask him what the next step in admission and he said that coming up shortly he sits down with some of the faculty and they choose 18 people for the directing program. Yes, 18 lol I didn’t realize it was so small. He said that people would start getting notifications at the end of this month.

Omg only 18 people?? I am so nervous! 😭😭😭I was also interviewed by him. Wish us the best luck!

Hi, just finished the interview for directing with Kevin Jones too. There was nothing much about the interview questions when I was preparing for it, so here are the questions that I remember:) Hope it would be helpful!

- Why Dodge?
- Why Directing?
- Anything that you recently watched that makes you feel inspired?
- How do you perceive being a writer and being a director? What's the difference?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses as a director?
- Did you have any difficulties collaborating with other people on a project?
- What is your creating process like (particularly in terms of the short film in my portfolio)
- Why graduate school now?
- Where do you see yourself in five years? And how many years do you think it needs to get you there?
- Any questions?

Some information I got (he shared with me at the end of the session but I didn't ask): just as cooljproductions06 posted, the directing program will select 18 people; all the interviews will be done after tomorrow; results will come out by the end of March.

Another thing that I think is worth mentioning: someone asked about it before, you will see the countdown after going to the link in the email, and you will be automatically connected to zoom when it is time, so don't panic!

Hi, guys. I just finished my interview with Kevin Jones. There were also two other interviewers with their cameras closed: Michael Kowalski and a Dodge graduate admission coordinator. I prepared like 20+ questions, but they only asked me two: why dodge? Do u have any questions? Professor Kevin was very energetic and he talked a lot. He said the decision will be out in two weeks around March 15th.

Haha it's same situation with me😂 I prepared a lot but they only ask you few question and ask you to ask them question LOL🤣

I finished my interview with Michael Kowalski this morning and he was very energetic. He asked me a few questions:
1. Why Dodge?
2. What's your inspiration for [one of the films in my portfolio]?
3. Anything that you recently watched that makes you feel inspired?
The whole interview process is chill and fun. Best luck with us!

Same it doesn’t say awaiting decision on mine anymore.

Screenwriting applicant here. Portal's still there, checklist's still there, but "Application Status: Awaiting Decision" next to my Chapman ID # has disappeared.
Same thing for me, also screenwriter. I interviewed -- they told me we would be alerted on March 15th with decisions, but maybe it's coming out a day early. That or they're just getting the portal prepped today to send out decisions tomorrow... so anxious!
