Hi everyone

I received an invite to interview on Jan 26th. It was a very welcomed surprise! The timeframe seems bumped up compared to previous years I think due to the application deadline moving from mid-January to early December. Interviews were scheduled for 15 minutes with core faculty members.

I've noticed they, including UT Austin, usually accept applicants with TV sample submissions.

i know at least one person has been accepted because i saw a post about it!!! that was weeks ago so i feel like a rejection notice would have come already— maybe they are still waiting for all of the candidates they chose to confirm

Thread 'Fully Funded MFA Screenwriting at UNLV (Fall 2026, late opening)'

A place has come open in our MFA Screenwriting cohort for Fall 2026 following a late withdrawal, and we’d like to fill it from the strong writers already moving through this year’s cycle rather than wait until next year.

The MFA carries full funding: full tuition remission plus a graduate assistantship stipend of roughly $21,000 a year. It runs for three years and is deliberately small: eight writers total across all cohorts. Teaching is workshop-based and focused on developing original feature and television work.
