Yeah, so that's my thought about joining here. I'm currently (somewhat) in a pickle and in a really weird situation as far as film schools go.
My name is Ian, and I'm a huge nerd. I come from a nerdy family, and I love that.
I decided I wanted to go into film as a career after watching a certain youtube series and the way it was put together. More specifically, the editor had gone out of his way to manipulate the original footage, and he's continued doing that in ways nobody would dare think to. So, I decided to give it a try, and I immediately loved it.
After High School, I applied and got into Tribeca Flashpoint in Chicago. I spent my two years there, although no degree was given due to me failing several classes, and bringing my GPA under the minimum requirement.
During my second year, it should also be noted I was hired for 3 jobs. One was to work as a co-editor on a feature film documentary (that ended up turning into a data managing job), one was to put together a fake newsreel for a live event (that never ended up reaching the advertised date), and the other was to put together videos for wrestlers and tag teams to come out to. This was the only one that bore fruit. Unfortunately, that place closed down in January.
During my time at Flashpoint, I got into an overseas relationship with someone also looking to go into the film industry, applying for NFTS for screenwriting, as I apply there for editing, hoping to hone my skills drastically and become better suited for a job in the industry.
Now what about that Flashpoint stuff?
I had applied for readmission, but that was denied. About a week ago, I received a call from that school, and we are currently seeing if we can progress towards getting me back into that school by May (odd, NFTS applications end then, too).
I'm currently attending a community college, originally with the hopes I could raise my GPA there, but now it's more of a dedication mission to fix my academic life and really prove to myself and those I interact with that I can put my mind to whatever I need to do, and get the job done.
