TISCH 2011 hopefuls lets nail-bite together!

@ shieldyoureyes

I wouldn't worry about the exclamation marks. Given the reason why we are here, I don't think anyone would notice. I know I didn't.

Let's hope we all get the "good" news this week.

I finally reached Susan Carnival after a couple of tries. She also said that the process is "definitely" not over. She said at least another week but she could not say for sure. She said she received half a dozen notifications to send today and that they can trickle in from the committee. She said there is no definite timetable. She said she has made calls and emailed some applicants.

I didn't ask but she thought it important to say that they will not give any status update over the phone.

So we just have to wait...hopefully not too much longer.

Anyone who submitted pretty late got an interview yet? Or most of them submitted (whoever got an offer for interview) earlier than the deadline. I submitted on the last possible hour, so just to clarify (read console myself) things!

that's a great question saintman...or at least a good one to make me feel better. i literally submitted at the last hour as well and haven't heard back yet.

that said, owing to my last minute submission i made some stupid mistakes on my app - typo here, formatting mistake there - so i may have eliminated myself.

anyone who submitted really late get an interview? also did you guys all submit vhs portfolios in addition to your dvd?

See mate, I'm actually making cool observations (hope they regularly check studentfilms)!
Good one, jacfilms (watson)!
Background Score: Take a chance on me (ABBA)!

I sent photographs.

Hi,
I submitted at the last hour and sent the portfolio postmarked at Dec 1st (and from Europe so probably it was received around 6th - they shouldn't actually even accept it).
I submitted only DVD.
My transcript was missing and I sent it at Jan 10th and then another correction around Jan 25th.

Got the interview email at Feb 9th so I don't thing the time of the submission is an issue.

Good luck everyone!

I submitted my materials pretty close to the deadline. I did have the chance to meet with an admissions officer for an informational interview, and he said that they don't even begin looking at any of the applications until after the deadline. I might be making a bit of logical leap here, but I'm assuming that means that your submission date has no bearing on when it actually gets reviewed. I could be wrong though.

I spent a day running around the production company I work for trying to find someone to copy my DVD onto VHS, but then gave Susan Carnival a quick call before shipping everything to make sure I had it all in order. She told me that if you tried out your DVD and it plays on both a PC and DVD player, the VHS backup wasn't necessary, and that you can save yourself a little bit in shipping. I think the tape is still sitting in the back seat of my car.

Does anybody have sample interview questions? Or, better yet, can anyone provide a link to a previous year's forum where interview questions were discussed?

nailbiting continues...

Have any more people heard from NYU about interviews? It's been a while since someone posted here about receiving an interview invite.

I haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping that some good news is coming my way over the next week or two - there's some speculation that Columbia is notifying their interview candidates next week.

By the way Akriti, did you have a hit on your video submission (for USC) in the last week?

I got one hit sometime on 9th or 10th. But nothing pretty much happened after that!

@saintman: I had a hit around the 30th of Jan from California on my video submission. Still waiting to hear from them though. Let's see what happens.

Really hoping to hear something from somewhere at least by the end of next week. Not great with the whole waiting thing.
