USC MFA Fall 2025 Waitlisted Applicants (any discipline)

Have any of you heard anything from any major?

We have about 21 of us in an IG group chat for Production and not a single one of us has been called up for Fall. Seems like they haven’t moved anyone yet, as the odds of no one hearing would be really slim. However, with Fall registration on 6/2, it would seem like we are kind of in the final stretch of having the majority of movement happen.

So yeah, anyone regardless of discipline hear anything or know of anyone who has?

I applied for screenwriting and have heard nothing - no rejection or waitlist email (and obviously no acceptance) lol. I'm starting to wonder if I even actually hit the apply button. Not exactly what you were asking but maybe they're just not great with communication overall

Is this a US-wide grad registration date? I’m on the waitlist for Tisch writing and no one has posted any movement either

That I’m not sure of, I just know that it’s USC’s! It’s insane how none of the programs have potentially said anything to anyone yet, idk about NYU but USC’s deadline to let them know if you were accepting or declining your admissions offers was 4/15. You’d think 6 weeks is enough time to decide on how to fill potentially 6-10 vacant spots lol

Oh so you think some spots were left vacant on purpose? Someone on the Tisch thread said that all 24 spots were supposedly taken according to the email CCs the accepted class received hence the zero updates

I know of a few people who declined their acceptance offer, so there are at least 3-4 open spots for them to pull form the waitlist for USC. Our cohort is 60, seems like they can expect 6-12 to decline each year due to financial reasons or other schools that may feel like a better fit for them

Nah, I got into my top choices so it's all good. I hope you guys get some info from them soon though and they don't just leave you hanging!

Thats wild. I imagine someone on here would have heard SOMETHING. We have an IG waitlist group chat for production with 20 people and none of us have heard jack.

Im on the Tisch waitlist and it's dead with no movement either. I imagine people have just accepted multiple offers with deposits and are taking their time deciding. Tbh that's what I'd have done. Sorry to invade this chat, no one on my thread is active

I hadn’t thought of that, but I bet you’re absolutely right. When do they have to notify you of movement by? Do you get a guaranteed spring admission as well if you aren’t bumped to the Fall (Production does at USC so I’m curious)?

Tisch said this situation can go on right up to the start of classes because tuition fees are due pretty close to the start of semester. If we don't get in, then we don't get in. Did not realise that you USC folk get spring admission if on the waitlist!!!! Lucky you!

I’m glad it’s alive!

Ugh that’s rough — yeah, for whatever reason it only applies to the Production discipline, so very stoked about that but we have a lot of people who are international or out of state who are like “uhhh…so, like, when am I starting?”

Well congrats on the admission I hope you find out what’s what soon. People seem to be moving off waitlists at Columbia so maybe there will be some luck for us
