Waitlist Support Group 2021

In all seriousness though, does anyone know if there is protocol around alerting a school (that you are waitlisted for) if you have a major accomplish, career credit or breakthrough emerge between applying and now? Do they allow that? Can it help your chances? Can it hurt? For example, if you are accepted to a major residency/development opportunity, win an award, are a finalist for [blank] opportunity...etc. I was going to ask admissions but wanted to check if anybody knew about that.
Someone like NYU states clearly to not submit anything further. So it depends on the school, I guess

There is a lot of us that are waitlisted for both Chapman and LMU... I wonder how many people they're going to let off the waitlist and how long that waitlist is 😭 😭 Could it be a coincidence that a majority of us are on here, or is the waitlist just THAT long?
Is it possible they waitlisted All applicants? No rejections?

Do we need to do anything if we want to remain on the LMU waitlist? I'm freaking out a little bit because I didn't do anything, as the message said to email them if you want to be off the waitlist. Now I can't login to the application portal anymore...

Also does anyone know when the waitlist will officially be closed? Like what is their latest notification period?

I can't remember the school where the student took fake photos...I think it was Harvard.

I recently watched the documentary on Netflix about the whole thing. The fake photos happened for Harvard, Stanford, USC, and probably many more given the guy's MO.... The documentary itself was okay, though there were a lot of those early 2000's reenacted scenes.

Hey guys! I was waitlisted for two programs, so I think we could all benefit from somewhere we can talk about it. So this is just for anyone who was waitlisted anywhere and the waiting is killing them. :)
does anyone know the number or percentage who historically get off the waitlist to be admitted to Chapman?

Which program at Chapman?

Pretty soon we'll be releasing a feature for Supporting Members that will calculate all of that automatically.

I'm also wondering about this, I haven't reached out either as the letter said reach out if you want to be taken off the list, which I most certainly would like to remain on, haha. I don't have the issue you seem to be having with my application portal however, sorry to hear that :/

I emailed them letting them know I wanted to remain on the waitlist and the portal issue... but still no response 😭 😭

Does anyone know how I can reach them? I tried calling their office number posted on their SFTV site, but it says they are working remotely and should just email them.

FYI the Acceptance Data tab on our film schools now shows you tons of data from our Application Database for each program including the percentage accepted off of Waitlist if you are a Supporting Member. There's still lots of calculated data is you aren't one though.

To see the info find your school in our film schools database and click on the Acceptance Data tab.

For example here's NYU:

It's a brand new feature I just had developed so I hope you find it useful. :) 100% made possible only by our Supporting Members so thank you so much!

Here's an example of some of the data it gives you (this is the mobile view)

Do you have a way of going back to the applicants who never updated the status of the application and ask them to update their status? I see in past years many left their status as Interviewed, Waitlisted w/o Interview, etc. Getting this granularity would help with the chance of getting off the waitlist if we want to look at it historically. For example in the Chapman MFA TV and Film Production data, I see a 100% chance of not getting off the waitlist. The results show that 7 of 7 did not get in off the waitlist. Turns out those 7 applicants never updated the data.

They batch message people occasionally. But some people are just never going to come back. The email alerts, if they get them, start going straight to spam after a while. I love seeing data, and this stuff drives me crazy too. But for some people these forums are just a fun pastime and i think that's okay too.

Also wanted to mention that there might have been way more than 7 on the waitlist. You might even do better by searching for declined admission, because as the people who are accepted decline you start to see the wait-list open up.

Edit: I went and looked for your program and it said 2 people declined admission after interview for fall 2019. So you know at least 2 people were moved off the waitlist.

Yeah I message people occasionally and people are probably sick of me. 🤣

Not sure what the solution is. I can't force anyone to update their data. 🤷‍♂️

The data will eventually improve as more people update stuff.

It was only recently that I added the options for getting admitted off wait-list etc.

FYI there's currently a bug on the Acceptance Data pages where the data shows but not the graphs for Supporting Members.

Hopefully we can fix this bug soon. At least the data is showing up so that's good. The graphs are pretty cool though.
This has been fixed. Can you verify for me if you are supporting member?

Log your film school application with our Application Database so that we can improve our admissions statistics.
