2016 Interviews- Acceptances- Rejections (1 Viewer)

@Boethius Congrats!! Do you or @Paul J. know the date and time yet??!!

Thanks, everyone! It felt great to get that email.

My dates are different than @Paul J. March 12-14 and 16-18. I'm deciding if I can swing flying out to be there in person. I've never been on campus, and I'd like to look around.

@Boethius The campus is BEAUTIFUL!! Definitely worth the trip if you can make it! :)

Nice! I'm also going down to visit the campus again! I wish we were all having our interviews at the same time, so we could meet up! Oh well...I'm sure that'll happen soon enough. ;)

I agree @Boethius, it would be nice if NYU could schedule their interviews around the same time!

Received an E-mail from Columbia! Interview dates yet to confirm! Ecstatic!

Just a confusion though, since I'm an international applicant and can't really fly down to NY for an interview, how do I go about scheduling a Skype interview? I went on their website and my options were either 2nd or 9th March. However, the details specify timings that are location centric. (Dodge Hall, to be precise) There are no options to schedule an online session. Any leads, good people? :)

Congrats! You have to click on the interview time you want, which will then give you an option of an in-person, Skype, or telephone interview.

Thanks for the quick response, Boethius! Saw you got a notification as well! Congratulations!

Hello everyone!

I just got an email inviting for an interview for the Directing/Screenwriting MFA program! (I got it around 4pm EST today)

I'm an international student and I submitted my application on the last day posible (December 1st). All my letters came from working professionals and as a visual submission I turned in the silent exercise proposed by Columbia.

I don't know if there is any more helpful information I can share, but if you have any questions don't hesitate on asking.

I hope all of you get your invitations too very soon!

Cheers :)

Hey guys! Im international applicant. New here. Well honestly i've been lurking for weeks. Just heard from my friend that she got an interview request from columbia (directing/screenwriting), and I got one from Calarts.

Looking at the spreadsheet and am quite confused on how only two film production applicants have so far been invited to an interview by USC. And would seem the interview is tomorrow, on a Sunday! Best of luck to @victorab and Anonymous and let us know how it went and what was asked! Hopefully more invites get thrown around in the forseeable future!

Really interesting how the number of people on the spreadsheet this year is is extremely small compared to last year. 133 vs 273. What could explain these differences? Some schools like Chapman, for example, got only 6 entries as opposed to 21 last year. An unexpected change considering they just won their first student academy award. Even AFI got fewer applicants, though that could perharps be explained by the last minute changes in their application requirements. Any other ideas?

Unfortunately, this is the state of higher education these days. Less and less people are applying to school. I think the cost has a lot to do with it. Also, in our current economic climate, a degree is not worth as much as it used to be. It is no longer a guarantee of a good job, and it seems people are picking up on that.
I was at a conference for admissions counselors back in October, and low applicant numbers was the main topic of discussion. there is not a single school in the U.S. that is not dealing with this issue.

I got an interview invite from UCLA this morning! 7:55a Pacific. Interview options are Feb. 17 and 18.
