2017 - MFA Applicants

Question, does anyone know if Feirstein does interviews for its Producing applicants? I know they operate on a rolling admission, but I didn't know if anyone on here anywhere has had experience with their process and how far along in the application process interviews would take place, if at all.

For anyone applying to UT, both the production and screenwriting programs have been hard at work looking over our applications since just after the holiday break. I have some connections there and word was passed along to me the process is well under way! Looks like they're on time with their usual schedule.
Hi Elle, I also applied to UT (production), which is the only school I applied and I'm freaking out here :) too bad I discovered this site after I applied but nevertheless, glad I have. reading the forums calms me down :) I sincerely wish the best of luck to everyone..

The forums help calm me down too. Best of luck! You can always go for it again next year.
I got an interview confirmation from UCLA last night and it made me reflect on this round of applications and I really put so much more into it the second time around knowing what I was doing. Always looks good to show that sort of dedication - plus we need it in this industry!

I'm interested in applying to the AFI Producing program, and originally the deadline was February 1st, but on the website, it's been pushed back to April 1st. This seems really late to me and was hoping to get some information from anybody who is currently in the program or has experience applying there.

Do they review applications on a rolling basis or is it only after the deadline like most other schools?

How does the program compare to the other producing programs? Even on the spreadsheet, I only saw 5 applicants to the AFI Producing program and that was back in 2015. There was apparently no interest for both 2016 and 2017.

Any insight on their program would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and best of luck to everybody who applied!

I am pretty sure someone applied and was accepted there last year. Might want to do a search of the forums and see what comes up.

I applied to Emerson last year and got accepted. One of the teachers in the program I had met through the UCLA professional program. It seemed like a really good program and they offer big financial packages, at least for me. I was going to attend but they found out they aren't allowed to give visas for intl students. Theyre still sorting it out, but the program did seem very worthwhile.

Hi guys,

Thought maybe it'd be helpful to post an update. I received an e-mail this morning from USC offering a Skype interview for later this week or next. I applied to the M.F.A. in Film / Television Production program (I'll be sure to enter the pertinent info into the tracking spreadsheet).

This all being said, does anybody have any suggestions or resources for interview prep? I have virtually no idea what to expect.

Thanks!

First time applicant here!

Applied to two programs for Fall 2017. Northwestern's Writing for the Screen and Stage, and USC Writing for Screen and Television.

Any other fellow applicants to these programs? Would love to share in the anxiety of waiting.

Welcome! I applied to Northwestern as well - for the second time. I think it's highly under-rated! Hopefully we hear something from them soon.

EDITED TO ADD --

All you newcomers, don't forget to add your info to the Google Doc! There's a ton of good info on it from the last few years also.

I got an email yesterday from LMU letting me know that I forgot to attach my writing prompt and this has been me ever since

FWIW I'm looking at it as a posi note that they reached out to me because if *I* were on the admissions council and someone forgot to attach something that bad boy would go right in the shredder.

Welcome to the site! I've also applied to USC's program. I am most nervous about USC :O
