Yo. College senior interested in MFA / MBA programs. Any advice would be dope.
T25 Undergrad. 3.7+ GPA. Major in film and media, management concentration. (M&A, corporate finance, film producing classes, etc.)
Just finished an undergrad honors thesis short film (writer, director, editor, colorist), won high honors for my undergrad thesis film, and I am working with another professor on a directed independent study of a doc short film that has a lot of promise. (Should have a relatively great LOR) I'll hopefully be in the festival circuit this coming year, fingers crossed.
There's only one program I'd consider, NYU, but it appears that the dual degree component could be possible at UCLA and USC as well, given that you can petition for graduate non-offered graduate programs if you get into the school. This doesn't appear to be possible at Columbia from my research.
I want to do an MFA so I can have opportunities to teach, such as a visiting professor or class instructor, and build my portfolio more. Long-term plan is to work in corp strategy or M&A in the film space
while freelancing as a director/editor on personal projects. Current post-grad plans are to work at a talent agency. (next year or two.)
