Northwestern Writing For Stage and Screen (14)

Has anyone heard anything from them? I haven't received a request to interview yet, which normally would have me worried, but it seems like no one has really been talking about this program this year. What gives?

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but I am accepted by this program and did an interview before. It seems that interview is a must to get in. Hope things go well with other schools that you apply.

Yeah I applied too and haven't heard anything. Not hopeful. A relative of mine went there for the stage and screen program. He said he got an interview, but did not go well. He asked his professors afterwards and they said it was just a formality. So I don't know.

Northwestern's process mystifies me. I applied last year and had a Skype interview. The interview was short and rather awkward, but I figured it was just a formality. Alas, I was not accepted and had to wait until August before receiving word of my official rejection on the website.

I applied again this year with a more experimental writing sample and didn't even get an interview (or at least not yet--but I'm not holding my breath).

So go figure. I question how they make a decision off of a 10-page writing sample anyway. It all seems very capricious.

You had to wait until August? Were you initially wait listed? That sounds really ridiculous.

Yeah their application was a little frustrating. I hated only have a page or two for my personal essay (the same is true for UCLA).

They never officially wait list you. It's like they're allergic to the term "wait list." They just give you some spiel about how they're in the process of filling their class, and while it's unlikely that a spot will open up, keep checking the website (which seems kind of cruel--can't they at least send an email update?). So I checked the website about once a week, and it was only until August that my rejection was posted. I feel like a masochist for having applied again. I'm at a complete loss for what it is they're looking for.

You guys who are waiting might want to log in to see if you've gotten a decision. I did on a lark and at the bottom there should be a link with your decision. I got rejected. It's okay though because I got into NYU.
