I read about this "dreaded February 6th rejection e-mail" from one of the 2009 threads. Is that still going on?

I was told by Susan Carnival that the MFA Filmmaking program will start sending invites for interviews either this week or in a couple of weeks. And final decisions will be given out on April 1st.

What program did you apply to last year?

Dramatic Writing.

Same here. My first time applying though. I sent three full-length scripts (one feature, two television). One that was admittedly a sophomoric effort and two pretty good follow-ups (in my opinion). I also don't have an astonishing amount of experience in the industry like a lot of other applicants do.

I'm probably going to end up in your boat: rejected and forced to re-apply because I want it so bad. Hopefully you get in this time. It'll make the wait a lot more hopeful for me. I haven't prepared my "rejection face" yet. I'm worried the letter is going to creep up on me and I won't be ready for it.

Hold on--you sent THREE scripts? The application says "Admission to the program depends primarily on the quality of the writing that an applicant submits - a full-length play, screenplay or teleplay."

I took that to mean only ONE script. Were we allowed to submit more?

Good luck to those applying, btw. I'm also applying for the first time, and expect to be rejected...but we'll have to see what happens.

That was a last month change on the website, I think. Before they said just to submit "work(s)".

Rejection was a disappointment, but I expected it last time around. I learned about the program about five weeks before the application due date, and my submission was pretty rushed. Then again, the second time around my submission was also pretty rushed, so I can't really expect much this time around.

You need to have one at least one complete work, with a total of 50 pages of material for submission. I submitted a 35-page spec script and a 30-page short play I wrote.

Any idea when USC starts calling for interview/if they conduct interview at all (for Film/Tv not Stark!

As of now I have noticed only MBA/MFA (NYU) applicants have received invitations for interview, any idea when they start informing others?

Thanks

Hmm. When you say "rushed" do you mean you wrote all your material in those five weeks?

If your material/writing/ideas weren't rushed this time around, I think you should expect much better news, not the same. I get the feeling that admissions offices like re-applications, though they might never admit to it... for fear of having everyone constantly re-apply.

Yes, I wrote a spec script in about five weeks for my application. It wasn't great, and I didn't have a lot of knowledge about TV writing conventions and structure, so it was a pretty amateurish attempt.
My writing was less rushed this time around, but it still isn't great. I am, however, keeping my fingers crossed!
I've heard reports of people getting accepted to Tisch (and other schools like USC) after trying many, many times. Basically, persistence is a great asset in this trying process!

...No news is good news? Awfully quiet on the Tisch front.
