UCLA MFA Production/Directing Fall 2023

I got accepted.. I think.

Did anyone else's email say:
"Your official application decision is pending a degree audit and review of your application materials by the
UCLA Division of Graduate Education. Once this review is successfully completed, you will receive an email
from their office with a link to your official decision letter and a request to complete a Statement of Intent to
Enroll." ?

Same here. I think that’s pretty standard. The department chooses their people and it just has to get approved by the general grad school. I could be wrong, but I think it’s only a concern if you have some big red flag that would make the grad school deny you.

Congrats!

I am a little bit confused. Are we supposed to get our official offer letter and scholarship information after we have said yes to the mail regarding our acceptance?

My understanding is that the film school selects the students that they want to admit. They then have to submit that list of "recommendations" to the UCLA Grad Department (general UCLA school) for their approval. I think it's essentially just a process of auditing the application to make sure there aren't any huge red flags that would disqualify you from admission (or at least I hope so). Then UCLA (general) will send you an offer letter with instructions to officially accept and be admitted.

What I gathered from the email is that when you get officially accepted by the UCLA grad department, you need to follow their instructions to accept it, and the film school would also like you to email them specifically to let you know whether you did.

re: scholarship info - I haven't seen or heard anything. I'm assuming that they need us to be fully admitted by the grad department before they can make any offers, but I don't think that means you have to accept your admission and enroll before getting that info. That wouldn't make much sense to me.

I got the following reply

"Hi Harsh,

Thank you for your response. If you receive a department scholarship, you will be notified soon. Are you asking about the final UCLA decision after the audit? Yes, you should receive that by April 15th.

Best,
UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television"

Seems like it's going to come soon.
