Northwestern Writing for Screen and Stage 2023

Lol, well at least it's the same for all of us. I had a feeling this program would prove to be more competitive than most, and it seems that's proving true. We'll see, I guess.

Yeah, I thought it wouldn’t be as competitive as UT’s Michener…but now I’m not so sure. Last years acceptance rate for NU was around five percent.

I got this email on Wednesday though:
“Dear John,

Yes, the MFA in Writing for Screen and Stage program will conduct interviews before rendering final admissions decisions.”

Which makes me think they haven’t done the interviews yet?

this might be a silly question, but I'm new to this whole process so i'm going to ask anyway. is the status in your portal supposed to change? Mine still just says 'submitted'. is it supposed to change to 'under review' or something like that?

Mine still says "submitted" as well, if that's any consolation. Although, I've seen here and on Twitter that a few folks have received interview requests/had their interviews already, so those of us who haven't heard anything yet might be out of luck honestly.

Yeah, I've basically given northwestern up for a bad job at this point.

It literally never even occurred to me to check twitter lol. That's smart.
