UCLA MFA Production/Directing Fall 2023

Just found out yesterday I got an interview for narrative directing because I got an email that I haven't picked my time slot yet, though I never received the original email. I was pleasantly surprised cause it's already mid march and I just assumed I wasn't getting an interview. It only gave me options for this Saturday or Sunday which doesn't give me much time to prepare.

In my confirmation email they said I should pitch a short film in under two minutes. Does anyone know other questions they may ask? It also said I'll receive an email with more information closer to the date - will they send out specific questions?
The only follow-up email I've received was basically just a reminder with Zoom instructions

Guys, has anyone received interview request for UCLA MFA Cinematography? I don't notice the section for this program on filmschool.org.
I am also wondering if/when there will be interviews? I applied for Cinematography as well, and was thinking they would have done interviews much sooner?
I also read on the website FAFSA was supposed to be filled out by 3/2. Definitely missed that deadline. Seems odd to apply for financial aid when they haven't even announced admissions yet? For me it's the only program I've applied to, so it's not like I would need the financial aid for something else.

Definitely apply for FAFSA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You don't have to wait for the decision. The federal deadline is in June, so you're still possible to get the federal loans.

Have you received an interview scheduling email? Good luck! I applied to the same program and will have the interview tomorrow!

Had my interview this week for narrative directing/production. It’s SUPER short at 20ish minutes so it’s difficult to feel like we really got to know each other very well. So if there’s any advice I can offer, it’s that you should do what you can to really try to give them a sense of who you are in that short time.

There aren’t any real surprise questions. There’s no time for it and the interviewers don’t seem to want to trip you up or anything. It’s more conversation, less pop quiz. It was a really pleasant conversation and I actually enjoyed meeting the folks who interviewed me.

Good luck y’all.

Edit: no real sense at the end how well it went. I just mean to say that the folks I spoke to were pleasant people and it’s far less intimidating an interview than some probably imagine.
