Acceptances/Decisions Fall '10

FSU: Rejected
UCF: Rejected
UM: Accepting

I'm leaning toward UM but thinking of going to Ringling or FullSail instead of Miami, what do you guys think?

Utah: accepted
American: accepted
Syracuse: accepted
Elon: accepted (interactive media, not a film program)
FSU: interviewed, waiting...
Buffalo: waiting to hear
Emerson: waiting to hear

This waiting is killing me, especially b/c I have to decide soon for a couple programs.

UT Austin: Rejected
FSU: Interviewed, waiting (not patiently!)

The waiting game is killing me. Especially since applications were in on December 1st.

jopickle, I hear you! Does anyone know what to do about a situation like this? A couple of these programs want to hear back before the others even make their admissions decisions. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

USC - accepted
NYU - accepted
AFI - accepted
UT Austin - accepted
FSU - accepted
Chapman - accepted
UCLA - interviewed, waiting
Columbia - interviewed, waiting

Malkovich-

I was forced to give a deposit at Miami before I had heard back from several other schools. Luckily it was only 250, so the financial strain was minimal. If you cant afford to put the deposits down and lose them, my advice would be to call the admissions offices and inform them of your situation. Perhaps they will work with you.

Congrats Everyone!!!

Oh, I was just looking at last year's thread like this, and people put there stats, GPA, experience, etc. above their acceptances (as much as they cared to share). I think it was kind of helpful for the next year's applicants to get an idea of who ended up where. Just a suggestion!

UCLA: Rejected
NYU: Rejected
Columbia: Interviewed and waiting
Chapman: No interview yet, waiting
Carnegie Mellon: No interview yet, waiting

Got my NYU Dramatic Writing rejection this morning. That was my top school. Now I want to die.

Thanks, levimfs! I'll see what admissions can do.

New2you -- please try to keep the hope alive! It's, of course, really disappointing to get a rejection from your first choice. But you still have three wonderful schools left, plus many, many other opportunities!

Just found out I got into FSU, so that takes some of the tension away, but they still want a decision as soon as possible.

Anyone have an strategies for deciding between schools? I don't know anyone else pursuing film school and I'm at a loss!

Best of luck to everyone in the coming days/weeks!

For Creative Producing:
Columbia- interviewed, accepted
NYU- interviewed, waiting.

For Directing/Production:
USC- waitlisted for Spring 2010, rejected for Fall 2010
UCLA- rejected

Stats:

Graduated 2008 with a BA in Art: Digital Video and New Media (essentially, my degree was in Photoshop and Final Cut) from a small state college...not even the top state school in my state. And I attended two other universities over the course of my meandering undergrad career.

GPA: 3.4
GRE: 1330, 5.0 (I took it for USC before I realized they didn't require it. I'm posting it since they will be requiring it again next year)

Columbia has been my top choice for a while now. I still haven't heard from NYU, but unless they offer me an irresistible financial deal, I'm going to Columbia.

Ask for an extension. They will grant you at least one extension lasting a week or two, or at least that was my friend who's graduating from AFI's experience in two acceptance seasons ago. She got into Chapman before she'd even been called to interview at AFI. They granted her something like six weeks of extension, but she had to keep checking in. Just ask...they want you there, but they won't force you to commit.

Thanks Malkovich, I'm having a lot of trouble getting out of bed today and your encouragement means a lot.

Glad to hear it. I'm rooting for you!

Jayimess -- you are a huge reason this forum is so, so helpful. Thanks for the great advice.
