Boston University MFA Screenwriting Fall 2023

Hi everyone! I couldn't find a thread for this, but I just got my acceptance email!!! Who else applied/got in?

Congrats! Thanks for starting the thread!

I think next year I'll start a whole bunch of threads for each program earlier in the application period so people find them and post earlier. That way the forums will be more active and more people will find the site and post on it.

I went to BU for film for undergraduate. (COM '99) I miss Boston. Great town.

The screenwriting professors all all completely different from when I was there.

Congrats guys! That's awesome! I'm still waiting to hear back, I've seen some people have received offers and heard that they weren't accepted so I'm wondering what the roll out is like. Congrats again!

I just got in as well. I'm excited but a bit concerned about the cost. It seems dramatically higher than most other schools.

Ha, I got the same thing. Full ride would have been nice, but I was offered some other aid at least. Even with that though, BU is still more expensive than DePaul, Columbia College Chicago, or Emerson. It seems like a great program, but it's hard to justify the increased cost. I'll need to visit Boston soon, I guess. Maybe I'll fall in love with the place and not be able to say no.

^^I’m in the same boat! I applied to the MS in TV program as well and haven’t gotten any emails for either. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long

Nope, I haven't heard anything yet either. I did apply a bit later than most, but I was still told I'd be considered under the priority deadline. I'm planning to email a bit closer to the end of the month to see if I can find out anything. When I applied a few years ago, it seemed like they sent all the decisions around the same day, so I dunno what's going on anymore haha.

Same here, I think I sent in my application a day or two before the deadline so that’s why I’m unsure. Good plan on waiting a bit then emailing! I guess for now we’ll have to wait and see

I think I’m leaning toward the MS in Television. Both programs look great, but I’m really interested in producing so I think the MS might be more my speed. That also might just be because they’ve sent me more information than the screenwriting program has, lol.

Thank you! They do both sound great! Are you going to attend the Zoom meeting for screenwriting on Wednesday? I'll be there and hoping to get some valuable info from that since they didn't hold an info session beforehand like some other schools did.

Unfortunately, I work during the day so I won’t be able to make it. I think the only one I’ll be able to attend is the alumni zoom on the 29th. Hopefully they’ll give some helpful info! I noticed they didn’t have a little intro video on the Admitted Students page either It’s been hard to find out much about the program other than what’s on the website.
