Hi everyone!

I'm Victor, from Barcelona (Spain). As many of us here, after reading your posts for weeks I've decided to introduce myself and share some experiences in the coming months with you.

I've got an Audiovisual Communication BFA and I've directed a couple of short films (fiction and doc.). Right now I'm working on the postproduction of my first feature-length documentary (not in time for the applications, unfortunately!).

I'm applying to NYU, USC, UCLA, AFI, Columbia, Chapman, and CalArts. Right now I'd say that my first options are NYU and USC, but I keep changing my mind. I got a fellowship from a private organization in my country to study an MFA in the USA, but in order for it to be effective I must get into one of these programs this year--so it's a bit of a matter of life or death here!

Thanks for all the useful information that's been posted--I'll be happy to add anything I can. And thanks to Chris for organizing this forum.

Good luck to all of you! :)

Welcome Victor! Glad to have another person join us! :)

Alright, this could be a total stretch, but are you by chance the Victor I met in Dubai earlier this year?! Your name and description is a match, so if that's you, Hi Victor! Crazy to see you here :)

We meet again, Daniel! :) I'm so happy to see you here!!!

¡Un abrazo fuerte desde Barcelona, compañero! I'm here as well for anything you might need :)

There are several private film schools and public universities that offer film degrees in Barcelona. Probably the two most important ones are:

- ESCAC, the most important Catalan film school. It's private and rather expensive for Spanish students, although it's nothing in comparison to film MFAs in the US. Admission is easy. Its undergraduate and graduate programs are practical, involve a lot of shooting experience and are strong in technical areas. It's located in Terrassa, an hour away from Barcelona. The school has a good record of alumni who've had a successful career in the Spanish film industry (such as director J.A. Bayona, screenwriter and director Mar Coll or DPs Óscar Faura and Eduard Grau).

- Pompeu Fabra University, the most prestigious public university with a Film program in Barcelona. It's a public university so there's a much higher competition to get in, but once you're in the programs are extremely affordable. I've studied the undergraduate BFA in Audiovisual Communication there, which has a broad and theoretical/critical approach to Film, TV and digital audiovisual communication. Its campus is in Barcelona, very close to the city centre. Graduate programs are strong in Creative Documentary and Film Theory, with awarded professors such as Spanish directors José Luis Guerin and Isaki Lacuesta.

There are many other options and film programs in Barcelona, but I'd start by checking these ones out!

Hello everyone and Victor! I'm also from Barcelona, so I decided to introduce myself here as well. First of all, thanks to everyone who created these threads and posted so much useful info!

I'm a Business Administration and Humanities major but my passion was always cinema, so over the years I've made a few shortfilms and studied film kind of on my own. Right now I'm working as a copywriter at an ad agency in Madrid, and I also write about films for a couple Spanish magazines.

I'm applying to Writing/Directing MFAs in NYU and Columbia.

Well, good luck to everyone... Storytellers should always find a place where they can actually tell their stories :)!

It's great to meet you here, Miguel!
Welcome to the Film School community-- and best of luck these following days! :) ¡Mucha suerte!

¡Mucha suerte!
