NYU MFA Film Fall 2025

Ya other years show two different days but last year had interviews only going out on the 5th. Seems like 3 people from filmschool getting interviews is low but maybe less NYU applicants are using the site or there are more to come.

Anyone thinking of Stony Brook? Applications are open now. Seems like people only have rave reviews about it and the cost is so much more doable, and you can teach and get tuition covered plus a stipend. Downside seems to be that it’s a new program with a smaller alumni network. Seems rigorous though with a lot of opportunities.

Also WEAR NICE CLOTHES TO YOUR INTERVIEW - as an AFI interviewer said according to the forums - "He said he didn't expect a full suit but to dress nice, like nice slacks and business appropriate top. He talked about a sloppily dressed guy giving him the impression that he didn't care."

Only a few are selected to interview.

No but I don’t know how much we can trust the admissions department and it’s weird not hearing back from the people who said they got invites but I think we’ll just have to trust everyone somewhat at this point and hope for the best, we should have more info by next week!
