NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing MFA Fall 2023 (1 Viewer)

Commenting to stay updated in this thread, it’s really down between NYU and DePaul for me. I interviewed with NYU on Feb 27th and have already gotten accepted into DePaul but they want me to notify them by March 17th if I intend to enroll. They say that it’s non binding but still, the time crunch is making me anxious! Best of luck to every applicant!

I'm so SO nervous, especially with the time difference! I'm waiting on hearing back about two courses from NYU (I interviewed for both DW and film) so it's double the anxiety. Fingers crossed we do hear today and wishing everyone good luck and good vibes :)

Not sure if it's worth divining too much from this, but FWIW, the other tisch mfa program I applied to just emailed us to thank us for our patience and to let us know that decisions would arrive via email "sometime next week". So guess I'll just will myself into a coma for, oh, another week or so, you know. Sure, wake up a little weaker but empowered by ~~KNOWLEDGE~~.

Ahhhh thank you so much for the update!! That's super annoying though, I've been sitting here as an anxious mess literally shaking day from the stress and refreshing my email and I was so looking forward to being put out of my misery today lol. Oh well, I guess it will come soon enough (although I do see that there seems to be a lot of lag in applications this year across schools, I wonder why)

Did you have to tell Tisch which program you applied to was your first choice?

Hmmm I don't think I had to do that but I'm not 100% sure. I initially wanted to apply for the Dramatic Writing and then found out about the film one. I can't even compare the two from the interviews as they were so incredibly different and I left feeling very different from both of them (the dramatic writing interview with Robin was so lovely and I felt so at ease and like I was actually talking about the course and what I want to do, whereas besides a couple of early questions about me in the film one it really became an interview trying to work out if I'm a good fit for the city itself, rather than the course and I did have a couple of awkward moments that really bummed me out).

Net ID and University ID on the portal now... judging by threads past, means news is imminent..? Could mean waitlist or admit, looks like... 🙂🙃🙂

Hope so! Which portal? I'm a Stern grad so I don't know if I'm looking in the right spot for Tisch. I'm also...an..idiot :)

Application Status Portal, right above the application checklist. (I wouldn't have realized if I hadn't been obsessively checking old threads lol)

I think decisions could even be tomorrow: I got a phone call this morning to say I've been accepted into the MFA Film course and my ID has also just updated for film on the portal. The head of the course told me that more info and the email/letter will be sent out tomorrow so that could be similar for DW.

Ah got it. I've got my IDs there as well but I kind of assumed they'd always been there since they're the same as my Stern details.

Interesting! Thanks for filling me in.

That's so exciting, congrats!!!!!! Looks like I'll be answering every spam phone call I get this week just in case ha ha
