I gave up on my seat for producing yesterday. So the waitlist might move soon. I know someone who also gave up on their seat for cinematography yesterday. Good luck to everyone! AFI is a great school, but an extremely expensive one. Think very carefully before going into debt for it!

They likely won't notify people.

I knew someone who got off the waitlist on editing and her email says the deposit is due on May 1st. As someone who is also on the waitlist, I wouldn’t carry much hope now… I personally think that it means we weren’t their first choice on the waitlist, or they are happy with the number (like they give out 30 offers but can make do with 29 ppl attending).

That all sounds pretty messed up to me.... Clearly AFI haven't got it right, if they are this messy with their application process....

I’m guessing 20+… As far as I know, there are like 10 Chinese students who got the interview, 3 were waitlisted and 2 were accepted (in directing). So if you count the odds, it should be at least 20 on the waitlist.

Hello! So I had a tiny question- around when do they reach out to us about scholarships, because I had applied for it well before the deadline, and now I have to fill out the I-20 application, and I need to know how much funding I need to prepare from my side.

Not sure. It's around when they have their first info session every year. Some programs (can't remember if it's AFI as well) people can get off the wait-list the week before class if people drop out last minute.

But it's becoming more likely than not that the wait-list is winding down.
