USC SCA Film & Television Production 2024

Does anyone know if all accepted students get interviewed? I think I read an article on here from an admissions person that said only half of accepted students got interviewed, and to not assume they aren't interested if you haven't recieved an interview request. On the other hand filtering through the applications it looks like there has not been a logged application in years that was admitted without an interview.

Wondering if anyone had thoughts on that.

Someone said they had people in their cohort last year that were not interviewed but honestly who knows. I feel like odds have to be much better when you're interviewed. :(

I was told by my interviewer and have heard from current students of MFA program that getting an interview from USC does NOT indicate that you will be accepted. There are people who get interviewed and rejected, and people who get accepted without ever being interviewed. Don't be discouraged if you still haven't heard anything yet - it doesn't indicate anything and there's still time to see how it will all play out.

Those who got interviews, would anyone be willing to share their personal statement? I'm more curious now about what they look for.

Completed my interview last week. Super conversational and chill -- posting the questions they asked me below.
  1. Tell me about yourself.
  2. What inspires you?
  3. What are some shows/films that excite you?
  4. What films have you watched recently?
  5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Based on the analytics the first batch of views/impressions happened in November, then a few in December, and this month there were some more
for slideroom views/impressions, I've gotten ones from Brooklyn & Thailand, but also applied to NYU so figure that's the Brooklyn. Maybe USC ones just registered as vimeo.com views/impressions, not sure

Folks who didn’t get a usc interview, have you gotten an interview anywhere else?
I've had an interview for the MFA Screenwriting at UCLA, and I've got an interview for NYU at the end of this month!

I already had 2 with AFI last month and Columbia screenwriting/directing yesterday. I also got one from LMU. Really no idea why I didn’t get one from USC since I applied to the Spring 2024 last summer and ended up in waitlist.
I think there's a chance you could get in without an interview, based on the application statistics. Good luck!

Hi friends, I've had my interview with an SCA professor a couple weeks ago... Do we think if you have an interview you find out quicker than other applicants?

From what I've been seeing, the interview is not indicative of being notified faster, but be sure to review any application statuses on this site to see if anyone has posted a response.

We're interviewing USC again. Do you have any questions for them?

Hey guys, I saw someone post about receiving an offer from USC on the Chinese social platform Xiaohongshu (similar to Instagram). After confirming the information of the post carefully (MFA, SCA, Film and TV Production, Fall 2024), I noticed the date on the image shared online was February 17th, 2024.
If the author of that post is also following this thread, congratulations! I'm curious if anyone else has received an offer from SCA. It feels like they're sending out offers earlier this year, and I'm starting to feel a bit nervous.😖 Fingers crossed and good luck guys!
