Hello,

I'm applying for Spring 2027 and the application is due in 12 days on Aug 15. I have most of my essays pretty much done, but I'm still working on my 2-minute short film. I'm a bit stuck. I'm doing everything myself (writing, directing, editing, acting, sound, production). I'm shooting on my iPhone and don't have much film/lighting equipment. I shot a couple scenes already and I'm not happy with how it's turning out tbh. Anyone have tips on the short film media sample?

Anyone have tips on the short film media sample?
Did you read the interview above? May be some tips there. My main advice would be to concentrate the most on story over anything else. Don't worry about the equipment. Is the story you are trying to tell compelling?

Even though I can’t offer any practical advice, I genuinely hope you get accepted.

Has anyone heard anything about the prompt for this year? It seems like they haven’t put up a new one yet and it’s a week overdue. Or could it be the same as last year?

For grad or undergrad?

  1. Writing Sample - Choose One If your writing sample is for a narrative film, make sure the sample tells a story. If you are submitting from a larger piece, the scene should stand on its own with a beginning, middle, and end. (Must be uploaded in PDF format only)
    1. A description of a four-minute film that contains no dialogue. It can be fiction or non-fiction. The story has to be communicated visually. (400 words or less)
    2. A dialogue scene between two people in screenplay format. (400 words or less)

They seem to be the same for grad or undergrad.
