2015 Interviews - Acceptances - Rejections (2 Viewers)

Oh wow, congrats! So interview notification today from USC? I guess they're not quite done toying with us yet haha
Yes. I woke up to that news. But its not a skype interview I guess. Just a phone interview. I haven't received any instructions yet. Waiting for them to confirm the time as well.

I got an email yesterday evening from Neil Landau with about 8 or 9 times open for an interview. He asked that I give him three preferences ranked #1-3, and I presume he'll get back to me to confirm an official date.

Hey, TheArsenal. Wondering if you've had your interview yet? And if so, would you be willing to share what type of questions were asked? My interview for UCLA screenwriting is next week on campus. Doing all I can to (over)prepare. Thanks!

Hi Chinatown86,

I have my interview on 3/3, but I'll be glad to share some information on my exerience that afternoon when I'm finished. I will say that these are usually very particular to the both the professor and applicant, though, so what I get asked may differ completely from what you might get asked. For instance, Bruin2015 has already interviewed and mentioned that the professor asked for a pitch, which is relatively uncommon for screenwriting applicants.

Thanks for the insight. And good luck!

Hello all!

First of all, congratulations to those accepted and who have completed interviews - y'all are a really impressive bunch! I've been lurking on this site for the last week trying to quell some of the nausea I am experiencing while waiting on tenterhooks to hear back from USC and UCLA. I finally heard something back from UCLA on 2/24 and I've been invited to interview as an MFA Directing/Producing candidate. I know that a few of you are in the same boat and I was just wondering if anyone has any idea what to wear to these interviews (I am female)? I'm getting kind of mixed messages about going too casual versus too formal in past posts so I was wondering if any of you have any advice?

Cheers and best of luck to all!

Hey, congrats on the interview! I wore a pencil skirt and a cardigan. I don't know if that's the preferred level of fanciness, but it felt okay to me. Good luck!

Hey yall! I got an email today from UCLA for an interview on March 15th - Cinematography MFA, same as psheets!

Congrats on getting those interviews, good luck! Which concentration did you apply to? Wondering if any Cinematography applicants have gotten an interview at AFI yet...

AFI just started processing Cinematography applications.

Ahh you got an email/call? Or did you call them to ask about the status?

Hi @JSM! Glad your interview went well. I have a long wait until 3/19.. which is killing me! Can you share what kind of questions you were asked? In general any observations.. tips? Appreciate it!

Hi Sush, it was basically what everyone else has been saying. The interviews are tailored to you because they want to get to know who you are as a person and a filmmaker. So if you meditate on that I think you will be fine. Best of luck!
