2015 Interviews - Acceptances - Rejections

Congratulations! It's a fantastic program, and Julianna is lovely to talk to :)
kd6, thanks for the response!
And I agree, FSU's program is great. The campus had wonderful resources too! I loved the warmness from the admissions committee/faculty. My visit there was really pleasant.

Now I'm having a hard time deciding because I did get into some other (non film-related) programs at NYU and USC (with partial funding!), which makes me want to just wait it out and reapply to their film schools again in their future. But I'm also afraid that if I turn down FSU's offer this year, I'd be missing out on a big opportunity... ah well, sorry for rambling.

Anyhow congrats on your acceptances too! :)

I'm about to have a telephone interview with Chapman this evening because of the time discrepancy. I've applied for its producing program.

Hello BettyHY1987,
How's your phone interview going?
What did they ask you?
I am going to have it in 3 hours.
Thank you :)

Hi Brenda,
The interview was pretty casual.
The interviewer only asked me two questions, both questions could be related to my personal statement (why producing & why chapman..). Then the interview entered Q&A....the interviewer was very patient and responsive to every question I asked. And all the answers I got are very honest and straightforward which I appreciated a lot.

Wish you good luck!

Hey guys,

I will be accepting my offer to join USC's film production program in the next few days and will be making the trip out there for the admitted graduates luncheon this upcoming Friday. Just wanted to reach out to see who else is planning on attending not only the program at USC but the luncheon as well. We can connect on Facebook if you'd like : https://www.facebook.com/mic.basha

Admitted graduates luncheon?

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the delayed silence. Right after my interview, I went straight to South East Asia for some traveling. Anyways, congratulations to all of the acceptances! For everyone else, in whatever situation you are in, have hope! There is always hope. Also, keep in mind all of the directors/producers that either never went to film school or applied numerous times before getting in.

Anyways, I just got email from the professor who interviewed me at UCLA about wanting to chat with me on the phone. She has been unable to reach me by phone, so I will be calling her later in the evening. Anybody know what to anticipate? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Just received a call from UCLA couple of hours ago. I am in! MFA program of production/directing. So excited to be one of the 18. I think I will be choosing UCLA over SAIC. I hope to meet some of you in L.A.

Hi Folks,
haven't been writing to much on this forum, but certainly have been doing some lurking to see when I should expect to hear back. Anyway, it looks like I've had some bad great luck. Applied to NYU, AFI, UCLA, and Columbia (for various directing programs), and got rejected from NYU and AFI, then waitlisted at Columbia. I was interviewed for UCLA, but I'm not crossing my fingers because of how tiny the program is. And it looks like people have been getting answers so I'm all like... meh...
Anyway my question is- have any of you been applying a few years in a row? What should I do to improve my chances next year? Should I work on my professional experience, or should I be building up my portfolio?

I hear you brother. I'm waiting on UCLA, but looks like I struck out this year. I'm on the older end of the spectrum (just hit 30), so I think I'm going to pass on film school and just start making films, hit the festival circuit hard, rather than go through the whole process again and be like 35 by the time I finish. Good luck to everyone and look forward to seeing your work in the future!

Same here. I'm still waiting on UCLA but seems like they already sent out acceptance letters. I'll probably work, do some writing and reapply next year. I think a large part of whether you get in or not depends on luck, rather than your talent. Best luck with your work!

Nice, which AI? I graduated from AI - Sacramento in December, now I'm choosing between Columbia and UCLA for Directing.
Did my first year in Seattle and the rest in LA. That's funny, if you choose UCLA we'll have had the same training.

Hey guys,

Do you know if LMU has sent out rejections or is done giving out acceptances? Haven't heard anything from them. And no hits on my 2 minute story video from them.

Thank you!

As of this morning I've finally heard back from all 5 schools I applied to for an MFA in Cinematography. Pretty sure I'll go with UCLA!
