Boston University MFA Screenwriting Fall 2023

Unfortunately, I work during the day so I won’t be able to make it. I think the only one I’ll be able to attend is the alumni zoom on the 29th. Hopefully they’ll give some helpful info! I noticed they didn’t have a little intro video on the Admitted Students page either 😔 It’s been hard to find out much about the program other than what’s on the website.
I'll take some notes and let you know if they say anything important!!

I’m still deciding, but something in my gut is steering me away from Boston. the program seems incredible, as did the staff, but it just doesn’t feel like the right fit for me. gah

I'm having a hard time with it too. I didn't expect making a decision to be harder than applying to all these places. What is it about BU that has you questioning? For me I think it's just cost. I can't quite figure out why the tuition there is so much higher than other programs. It's something like 25% more than Chapman, which is already an insanely expensive program. That said, I loved the city and if money weren't a concern I'd probably have committed there already.

the cost is a factor. I actually got my scholarship upped for another program which helped sway me. i think also i didn’t feel like the city/campus was the right fit for me. it was almost like this crazy internal sensation of it being the “wrong” place for me to go. is chapman the other place you’re deciding between?

No, I think at this point I've written off Chapman. I didn't receive any sort of funding there, and the $100,000 price tag is unreasonable. They did say I could probably count on some funding package in the second year, but that's not really a chance I'm willing to take. I'm mostly deciding at this point between BU, Ohio University, and Emerson. Ohio is a small, lesser known program, but they're also offering me full tuition coverage. Free is hard to argue with. Where are you thinking of going, if not BU?
