I also have not received any interview invitations, good luck everybody! I hope we can hear back from them soon.

I was interviewed both last year and the year before, waitlisted the first time, didn’t get acceptedhi did you interview last year and not get accepted?
How was the interview? Can you give us some insights on what type of questions they asked if you do not mind? Thank you!I was interviewed both last year and the year before, waitlisted the first time, didn’t get accepted![]()
Still nothing here...seems like they all came out on that one day so far.I wonder if there has been another wave of interview invites sent out? It's been a few days now.
Let me know what they say!Sent them an email just in case there may be more invitations but I’m not too sure what to think now![]()

Dang. Thanks for asking. I kind of figured anyway but it is sort of nice to get some closure instead of hoping it randomly comes late.Sadly, looks like they were all sent out.

Not a problem! I was hanging onto some hope given the pattern of sending out invites in previous years, so it is good to know for certain now.Dang. Thanks for asking. I kind of figured anyway but it is sort of nice to get some closure instead of hoping it randomly comes late.
Sigh, what a bummer. I thought that was my strongest application.Sadly, looks like they were all sent out.

Maybe it's because your film style doesn't match this school's preferred style, and they are not sure about teaching you. I know all the schools always say they welcome all styles, all types, all forms, blablabla, but they always have their preferred one since the positions are limited. I have a friend who was accepted by NYU but waitlisted by LMU. So sometimes, it's not about whether your portfolio is strong or weak; it is about whether your and the school's styles are adaptive or whether you and the school focus on the same point. I suggest applying to as many schools as you can. Let's say If all the schools don't accept you (especially those who have a close ranking), then you might need to improve your portfolio, but if you are accepted by some schools but rejected by some others who have a close ranking, then you will know which one may make you develop better.Sigh, what a bummer. I thought that was my strongest application.
Thank you for sharing! Do you have idea who you were interviewed by?Did mine on Monday, it was pretty laidback! I think these were these questions they asked:
- Tell us more about the films you submitted and what you learned from the experience of making them, plus what skills you still feel like you need to improve on by attending film school.
- Why Columbia?
- Something along the lines of, what kind of films do you want to make?
- Which directors' careers do you admire the most and would want to emulate?
- Any questions for us?
Yeah! I was interviewed by Anocha Suwichakornpong and Joseph Jamal. I'm pretty sure it's not them every time, but it would make sense to me if the full-time faculty members were the ones interviewing applicants in general: Meet the Film Faculty | School of the ArtsThank you for sharing!
