Emerson Writing for Film and Television MFA 2022

Is anyone else applying to this program this year? Emerson is pretty high on almost every film school ranking but I haven't been able to find too much information about their MFA in Film and TV writing MFA outside of what's on their site and the few threads I've seen on here. The curriculum seems on par with other programs and it's fairly affordable so I'm going to apply by the Feb 1st early admission deadline but I was wondering if anyone else had any insight on it, especially with it being low-residency? I also like that it's the only school I've applied to so far that has just flat out given me an application fee waiver without having to ask. I'll also be attending the virtual info session on Jan 20th so if anyone has questions they want answered, let me know.

Here's our application statistics for the program on our site. There aren't too many applications currently so everyone please be sure to add theirs so we can get more accurate info.

Re Emerson... I knew a lot of undergraduate Emerson people here in LA. Unfortunately I don't know too much about the writing program but hopefully others can give some insight.

Here are the reviews for the undergrad program we have:

Very insightful. The optimist in me thinks that some of the critiques of the campus, cost, and diversity won't be as big of a factor with a low-residency program. The cost of the MFA seems to be pretty low compared to others I've researched and if they offer decent scholarships, it could be a great deal. The comments about the lack of diversity do concern me but I also realistically know that that's going to be everywhere unless I get an MFA from Howard. The critique of the ELA program not guaranteeing internships also stood out to me because my biggest question is about internship opportunities for MFA students. I live in LA so I'd ideally be able to take advantage of an internship while in the program but I don't know how I'd feel about an MFA program that didn't have internship opportunities.

I don't know if this is allowed on here or not so please remove it if it isn't but I attended the virtual info session for the MFA yesterday and they sent us a link to the recording:

Video Conferencing, Web Conferencing, Webinars, Screen Sharing

The link is only good for 180 days but that's plenty of time to check it out and apply before the final deadline for anyone who is interested

Again sorry if this isn't allowed, please feel free to take the post down if it violates any rules.

Certainly doesn't violate any of our rules.

Hi, I applied to Emerson. Curious if anyone knows when we may hear back?
