Peter Stark Producing Program 2014/2015

I didn't apply this year (I considered it but I was studying abroad and I didn't have a lot of time) but if I don't get in anywhere this year, I will def consider applying to producing or production maybe spring)

I already framed mine and put it right by my door. Every time I leave I'll be reminded. See some of you on next year's thread

I don't think I'll be reapplying. I think I'll just try to self-teach and read a bunch of books and just network like crazy. :-)

my first instinct was to frame the rejection letter but decided to toss it so I wouldn't obsess over it lol

now I wish I wouldn't have ripped it up #ohwello_O

Oh yeah, I'll be holding onto mine FOREVER. And Harvey Weinstein will comment on it when he comes to visit my office to congratulate me on my multiple Oscar victory win over him. Muahahahaha...

Congratulations to all who got in - brooklynmoo, BacktoBefore, Acemadman15, skyhi, reginaldfairfield and to your son Canada (PS. You are one cool mom !)
Folks who were waitlisted - J.C. and LaLaLand321, keep tabs with folks at Peter Stark. I believe you have to send them an email every month or so (they say something specific in the letter), saying that you are still interested.

Folks who did not get in, I really admire your enthusiasm. Stay dedicated and motivated; you will surely get to where you want to be.

As far as I am concerned, I was rejected this time in spite of being waitlisted last year (so any reapplicants please don't be complacent).
But I kind of know why. I think I had mentioned it somewhere earlier in this forum, but I am currently developing an internet startup - moviesaints.com.
It's going to be an one-of-its-kind 'independent' space for independent cinema, that will be global, democratic and will be oriented towards quality. I think there are way too many talented filmmakers in the world today, but although the supply of good films (including short films) have increased, the means of distribution are still very archaic and inefficient. MovieSaints aspires to change all that and connect the filmmaker and the audience in a way that has been impossible before.

This means my application this year was less oriented towards film and more towards entrepreneurship.
I was not certain if PS was the best thing for me to do. (But how could I resist reapplying when I came so close last year !)
In fact Richard had mentioned in his interview why did I want to spend so much money to go to school when I could do what I wanted and more with moviesaints. I really did not have a good answer for that.

So in retrospect I am extremely grateful for PS that they rejected me. Since December, I have been so busy; I think I have slept only 4 hrs on average since.
If I was accepted I would not have been able to juggle school and MovieSaints together, and there was no way I could have said no to PS. (So in a way I am glad that decision was made for me)
In the coming months I will be travelling to various universities across the country in an effort to secure some sort of a tie-up (since student filmmakers will greatly benefit from such a platform). It would have been an awkward conversation if I was enrolled at USC.

Anyway this is a great forum (not just for PS but for student filmmakers in general). Such a talented bunch need to stay in touch !
Feel free to send me a private message if you want, I will send you by email/fb/phone etc.
If you wish to know more about MovieSaints, feel free to sign up for updates on the website. (damn that sounds like marketing lingo !! I assure you, that's not my intention !)

And as far as saving the rejection letter goes, I'd rather save my application. Those are some of the most honest essays I have ever written. It would be nice to look back on it (after achieving some modicum of success) and analyze whether I have changed or not !

Good luck everyone !
Rishi

We've actually received our class list, so it seems that if anyone came in off the waitlist, it already happened. Hope that you guys reapply and I meet you next year!
