Hi all - I'm Maria and looking to apply to the Peter Stark Program, wondering who else has begun their application essays....

Also, I see on the USC site that they don't require GRE scores, but on previous forums I see people are taking their GRE. Does anyone know if that's an official requirement?

Look forward to discussing the process.
Maria

Got the official reply from USC:

Thanks for your interest in the Stark Program. We do not accept GRE scores in the Stark application process.

:)

A GRE is NOT required for any of the other USC MFA progams either.

Any tips, comments, or interview questions you'd like to share from the experience?
It was shorter than I thought, only 12 minutes. And the Chair, Larry Turman was there too! I think it's true that essentially they're just trying to know you better in an interview. Most questions were related to information they gathered from my application, so I think the questions vary from one person to another. But to boil it down, what can be prepared is to thoroughly consider your past (experience/choices), present (reasons/belief/motivation), and future (plans/goals). And of course, a question for them!

Pls update the Film School Interview Questions WIKI with any insights you feel like adding. :)

does anybody have any insight into how the process works this year? Is it just one skype interview then acceptance/rejection?

I'm really curious about this too. I sent Stark two emails and never got a reply... also haven't heard back about my application so I guess I haven't been selected for the interview? :( It's like a black box, argh.

I had my interview with Larry Turman, Richard Shepherd and Michael Lane yesterday morning.

While the Skype call itself was a bit choppy (yay, Technology!), I think the interview was very smooth and not as intimidating as I thought it would be--the 20-minute conversation was centered around elaborating on my essay responses and a couple questions I lobbed up at the end.

Echoing what Irene mentioned above, my advice for those who have yet to interview is to go over your essay responses / CV and just be yourself--they really just want to get to know you better and put a face to the application (at least, that's the impression I got).

I was told a formal decision would be made in 3-4 weeks.

Good luck, everyone!

Hi everyone!
I just (re-)discovered this forum and am so happy to see several people have joined the 2017 thread! I wish all of you good luck. It would be really exciting to see some of you be accepted!

Good luck and hang in there everyone!
