2015 Interviews - Acceptances - Rejections (2 Viewers)

I officially got my rejection letter from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee… Which I wouldn't feel very upset about except to me their standards for applications seemed much lower than the rest. I still have my interview with FSU to look forward to, but still… Maybe I just was not quite what they were looking for this year.

Are going for undergrad? I intially went there as an undergrad film student and changed my major to theatre. MKE's program is really experimental and I didn't find it satisfying. Having lived in the area most my life, there is not a lot of opportunity for that industry either. So don't sweat it :-)

Hey yall - been following this for some time and thought I'd finally chime in. Applied to AFI, USC, NYU, UCLA & Chapman for an MFA in Cinematography. So far I have an interview scheduled at NYU in early March, and I got an email about 2 weeks ago from UCLA saying my application is now under faculty review. They asked me to provide links to my work. Strangely, it was also addressed to 9 other applicants. Anyway, that's all so far. Nothing yet from AFI, USC or Chapman.

Grad school actually. Thanks for letting me know that though! Maybe since I was pushing so hard in my application for a chance to study actual traditional filmmaking that they saw I wasn't right for their program.

For anyone else that applied to Columbia directing. I called yesterday regarding the process...and they said they are still in the midst of reviewing applicants, but interviews are mandatory to their program.

Seems like nobody has received an interview invitation after the ones they sent out last week. Things aren't looking good for those who didn't get one so far. I've scratched off Columbia. Frankly, I mostly think they gave you a polite response to an inconvenient question and a tiny glimpse of hope to a dying wish... but I've always been a pessimist, so who knows.

Is anyone familiar with the fellowship application process for UCLA Screenwriting MFA?

I did a lot of sifting through this page today:
https://grad.ucla.edu/asis/stusup/fundingop.htm

It's pretty much just a nice, convenient hub to search for outside fellowships. Doesn't look like UCLA has a whole lot in terms of internal scholarships/fellowships from what I can tell. Not a lot of TA work available for Film/TV people either during the semester.

I am one of those nine other candidates. Also had a Skype interview last Sunday with USC that went pretty well. I've been informed by an admissions representative at Chapman that my application JUST went up for review. This was yesterday. Good Luck Pratik!

Thanks for the info man - good luck!

Have any Cinematography MFA applicants heard from AFI?

Hey guys. I have been following this post for quite sometime now. Thank you all for sharing valuable information on this forum. It has been incredibly helpful. I am kinda curious to know how many of you applied before the priority deadline for the MFA program at USC. Has anyone applied after the priority deadline? If so, have you received any interview notifications from USC despite the fact that you applied after the priority deadline? I am kinda worried about this aspect since I applied after. Any leads on this would be appreciated.

I have applied at AFI, USC, NYU, FSU, BU and LMU btw. I really I hope I get into one of them!

I applied after the priority deadline and received an interview notification last week and interviewed on Tuesday.

hey guys, now I have done some interviews , so I wish maybe this will help some of you guys.

I received interviews from FSU, USC, CHAPMAN and Art Center College of Design. I applied film production (directing focus). btw, I am an international applicant if this helps. For Chapman, if you didn't hear anything yet, don't be paranoid as they are still reviewing all the applications.

I think FSU's interview is more like an interview, they asked many questions related to my application and they have 3 teachers to interview me, I think I didn't do very well.... In comparison, other schools are more like causal conversation, you guys can just relax and be yourself.

I haven't heard anything from UCLA and AFI .... hope can get an interview at least, wish we all go to the school that we want !

I feel like there has been radio silence in terms of interviews lately. Is this a bad sign?
Still waiting to hear from the Producing Programs at UCLA and USC....

Hope everyone with fast approaching interviews are feeling ready for action... And don't worry, nerves just mean you care. So, in that light, a positive thing! For those of us still waiting, heres hoping next week brings some joy. Have a great weekend and enjoy the Oscars everyone! :-)

Same here. I applied after the priority deadline and just had a quick interview over the phone last week.

This is my status right now:
AFI - Interview early March in L.A.
Chapman - Interviewed over the phone last week.
USC - Short Interview over the phone last week, don't know if I'm supposed to have another one.
NYU - Haven't heard anything yet.

I'm a US applicant for the directing program.
