  • Can I registered but I never received my confirmation e-mail and I can't use the site.

    Please check your spam folder. If it isn't in your inbox then it might be in your spam folder. If you still haven't received it and it's been more than 15 minutes, feel free to contact me using the e-mail address that you registered with and I should be able to manually verify your e-mail address.

  • Tips on posting your first message.

    For your first message I recommend introducing yourself in the Introductions and Welcome forum:

  • What is an Avatar? Why should I have one and how can I change it?

    Why I thought you'd never ask! An Avatar is the image that gets displayed next to your user name when you post threads. It can be anything... a picture of your favorite director... a still from your favorite film... or even a picture of yourself. Mine is currently an image used in on of the posters for Seven Samurai for example.

    An Avatar image is a great way for forum members to instantly recognize your user and gives your user a little more personality than just the generic male and female default images. Don't be boring... change your avatar!

  • Can I change my member title from "New Member" to something else?

    Again with the great questions! Why yes you can... there's no need to have a boring simple "New Member" little next to your name... it can be anything at all. It's a way to let other forum members know something else about you... like a Tag line. "Film lover extraordinaire"... "Aspiring writer"... "Kurosawa groupie"... The possibilities are endless. (same content rules apply as to normal posts - see Community Rules)

  • What is a signature and how do I change my signature?

    A "signature" is a forum term for text that goes beneath your posts. A ton of our users use the signature to tell people what schools they are applying to and what the status is. I use mine to tell people a little more about myself.

  • A film school isn't listed in the Film School Review section. Can I add it?

    Yes! Simply go to the big "Add Film School" big blue button in the top right.

  • I want to review a film school but I want to stay anonymous.

    Good news! You can review a film school anonymously... simply make sure you check that checkbox before submitting a review.

  • Did you know that you don't have to be an alumni to review a film school?

    Yup! You don't have be an alumni. There's a pulldown when you review where you can choose to review as an applicant, current student, interviewee, as a result of a tour... etc... Please submit as many reviews as you can to the schools that you've toured and applied to. It'll help out the other forum members and applicants make their decisions.

  • How do I start a private conversation with a member?

    Click on their user name and then select "Start a Conversation". Alternatively you can click on the mail icon next to your username and start one that way.

  • How do I mention someone in a post?

    If you use the @ symbol before someone's username... it'll give that user an alert to your post the next time they log in.

  • Any other forum tips?

    Yes! Check out this page for a list of all "BB codes" or quick ways to format your posts and make them look perty perty.
