2015 Interviews - Acceptances - Rejections (2 Viewers)

Hi Guys. I'm Paul. I applied to USC, UCLA, AFI and Chapman. I received an email on Feb 2nd from Prof. Donia Davis at the UCLA Admissions Office. She asked for links to my creative work. The email was only sent to ten people. This Sunday I will chat with Prof. Jeremy Kagan via Skype to "see if I'm a good fit" at USC.

Any fellow Cinematographers out there? Are we last to be processed at UCLA?

Schools by desire: UCLA, Chapman, USC - I dunno about AFI, seems too political for me.

Here's a link to my reel:

Cheers and Good Luck!

Hey all,

I received a (production/directing) interview offer from Florida State yesterday, and though I prefer UT Austin I plan on interviewing to keep my options open and get some practice... Still holding out for an interview offer from NYU, I haven't gotten a rejection letter...so there's still hope!

Also waiting and fretting about UCLA and Loyola Marymount... Glad to have the community here to be anxious with!

Just received an invitation to interview at Columbia as a screenwriting/directing applicant. I received the email at 11:30 AM PST. I am a domestic applicant. So excited!

Awesome!!! Been pulling for you since I first posted the thread, can't wait to hear about your SUCCESSFUL interview haha...good luck!

Thanks man! Congrats on the FSU interview. I definitely agree on your move to go anyway despite the UT acceptance. You really never know what kind of deal you'll get or what kind of impression they'll make on you in person.

Still nothing from NYU, UCLA, or LMU on my end either. I looked at some of the old threads but UCLA pushing their submission deadline back a month makes those past dates totally unreliable, I think. Good luck!

According to a previous post, over the last 5 years the earliest anyone has heard from USC has been 2/17. We can expect to hear back before the end of the month unless they've really changed things up.

Hey all! I got an email from Columbia this afternoon for an interview mid March. It is my first choice, so I'm really excited! Haven't heard from NYu yet. I'm an MFA Film directing applicant and my last name begins with a P. Congratulations to all that have interviews. Good luck to the rest! Waiting is not fun!! De4our - Congrats on UT! I lived in Austin for a decade! Absolutely love that city!

Congrats Kevin, Elexcia, Lorena !

Just confirmed an interview as well ! I'm in NYC and applied for Directing.
COngrats on the interview! I'm still waiting to here from TISCH. May I ask what letter your last name starts with? I think they are going alphabetically. The wait is killing me! Good luck with the interview, please share your experience here!

My last name begins with a W. I received my notification Wednesday morning.

Wait USC is sending out stuff today as well?

Sorry to hear that :( what program did you apply to?

I am so sorry to hear that. What program did you apply?

I think it depends on what program you are applying. Instead of invitation only, USC's producing program is appointment based..you have to make an appointment for the interview.

No, USC only interviews screenwriters on rare occasions-- usually if they want more information about something in your application or to test out an international applicant's English proficiency. The vast majority just receive a single email: Accepted, Waitlist, or Rejected. (Everyone on the waitlist is automatically admitted for the Spring term.)

Smooshie, did you mean UCLA or did you actually receive a rejection from USC?

Yes, sorry guys! I made a mistake. I meant UCLA. Haven't heard back from USC yet! I applied to the Writing for Screen and TV program.

Yikes, that's coming up soon. USC is my first choice and I'm pretty antsy waiting to hear from them! Thanks for the heads-up!

Haha, everybody's so wound up at this point of the application process, one mistake can send the whole thread into a frenzy.

No worries, Smooshie. Good luck with your UCLA interview!
