Just got my official no from NYU for screenwriting, which I expected. I'm not upset because I got into my first choice of USC! And it's also my only choice - it's the only place where I got in out of everywhere I applied (UCLA, NYU, USC, AFI, and UT).

For NYU, I received an email that said a decision had been made on my application, and it prompted me to log into a website to read my letter. I did not have an interview.

Thank you! It was the same site as the application. I logged in the same way as I did while filling it out, same pin and everything.

Did anybody get their rejection letter from USC Screenwriting MFA? Did it say to reapply? Idk if that's the standard format or if they're actually asking me to reapply.

Let me be more specific, "Nonetheless, our faculty recommended that you continue to build your portfolio and reapply for a future semester." Now it's starting to sound very standard.

As of now, I've only heard news from Cal Arts with acceptance to their MFA Film Directing program, so am gearing to look this as a possible future. I started a thread as well:

I know its a bit under the radar compared to the other programs, and am aware not many people applied. Besides the fact, I'd love to hear of anyone that knows more about the program or is possibly going there. Nonetheless, I'd love to hear anyone that has anything to share etc.

Mine says "submitted" as well.

Mine also says "submitted," but I also never received an interview. I'm assuming this is a 'no go' for me.

I actually applied as a transfer a couple of years ago. Looked like an attractive program for sure. Curious how it is. Have you spoken to any alumni?

When/how did you find out you got rejected from USC? My USConnect still says my application is under review.

Oh, nice! For the Film Directing or Film/Video program? Where did you transfer from and what made you want to apply to Cal Arts?

I'm right there with you...curious to know someone's experience who graduated or is currently in the program.

I applied whimsically, but after not hearing back from NYU, I realized how much my heart was set on going there. I feel its not best for me to just go to Cal Arts just for the sole reason of it being my only acceptance.

I have some thinking to do!

Just want to say that I feel frustrated on the part of anyone who applied to the UCLA directing programme and hasn't heard anything yet. I'd suggest that they are stringing people along more so than the other top MFA schools, even despite their later deadline. Regardless of their vagueness on the matter, I doubt that they will be sending out any more interview invitations. But if they do, these really should have gone out already, along with rejections, if they expect to be as competitive as the other top four programs. Much luck to the worthy! -LD

Lisano, how did you hear from USC and when?

well, a simple email informed me that I was rejected. I think it was on 12th March.
