The Brave and the Bold

Hello all! My name is Dave and I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Film Production. Like some of you on here, my path to filmmaking was not the most traditional. I had previously attended Colorado State University - Pueblo straight out of high school but a personal tragedy prompted me to leave school and join the work force. After a nearly 10 year hiatus from higher education and with no real direction in my life, I returned to school. With the love and support of my family and friends, I returned to school to pursue the ultimate dream of becoming a filmmaker. I attended my home town college, University of Colorado Colorado Springs (or UCCS for short) and just completed my degree in Communication with an emphasis in Digital Filmmaking. I decided that if I was going to pursue this further, then I would do so the right way. I am committed to learning all I can about the craft of film production and to do so I have decided to apply to the best programs out there! Although acceptance into any of these programs is a long shot, I figure that I owe it to myself to really go for it! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! I am currently in the process of applying to UCLA, USC, Chapman, NYU, UT, LMU and FSU. I am still considering others as well! Any insight, advice, well wishes and good vibes are appreciated!

Best of luck to you all!

-Dave

Welcome to the site and good luck!

Be sure to reply to the thread below with where you're going as well as it may get more exposure:

I am currently in the process of applying to UCLA, USC, Chapman, NYU, UT, LMU and FSU.

Those are all great programs. We're actually interviewing LMU soon if you have any questions for them.

I don't believe there are any current year application threads started for those programs in the application year forum if you want to create one for one of them:

That would be a great help to get the ball rolling and meet your fellow applicants.

Also those past year application threads in the forum above are a treasure trove of information from past years applicants so I highly recommend reading through them if you haven't already. Our application database is also a great resource to go through and it has past accepted GPAs, essays, and other cool data that people have shared to help others.

Also be sure to check out our interviews with the admissions departments and our guides to applying to the schools.
